Who should buy an NWS instrument?

NWS instruments are designed specifically for expert imaging users who work in demanding disciplines such as architecture, nature, food, jewelry, tabletop and watch as well as document archival and forensic analysis. Our instruments perform best when used with skill and patience to fully extract their performance potential.

While many commercial and institutional photographers work this way, increasing numbers of dedicated, serious photographers welcome this level of performance and flexibility in their optical instrument investments.

How to buy an NWS instrument?

NWS Instruments AG sells its products directly to its expert end user customers. To assist the customer with selection and application, we provide the customer with two choices to complete an order:

  1. Contact NWS staff directly via email and Skype. We speak and write in English and German.
  2. Contact one of the established commercial expert photographers we vetted and listed on our website. These experts make their living selling images. NWS Instruments AG compensates these experts for their assistance. Currently, experts speak and write in English, German and French.

Once the support option is selected, make sure our optical and mechanical instruments are a good match for your performance needs and work environment. In particular, here are some important considerations:

  1. 100% opto-mechanical – our current instruments have no auto focus, no auto aperture, no ROM therefore passes no EXIF data
  2. critical focusing – their full potential of 120 lp/mm resolution require pinpoint-accurate focusing, which means it should in tethered or live-view modes and done at 10x magnification or higher
  3. image circle – our optical instruments deliver the specified MTF50 resolution values and light falloff within stated image circles even when they can illuminate a larger area
  4. linear distortion and chromatic aberration – our specifications reflect accurately what the optical instruments deliver
  5. ingress protection / IP-rating – our optical and mechanical instruments should be protected against dust and moisture ingress if used in an unfavorable environment
